Subscribe to data using MedTech Connect
Find a dataset in the MedTech Data Catalog and request governed access to it — across technology boundaries, without tickets.
Before you start
- You are onboarded to the MedTech Connect platform
- You have a project on the MedTech Connect platform
Steps
- 01
Open MedTech Connect and go to the Data Catalog
On the bottom navigation panel, select the "Data Catalog" tile. It navigates you to the Alation Data Catalog.

Search for the data you need
Use the search bar on the catalog landing page — enter a table name or any business term (for example, a source table like windchill_bom). Results group by data source and type.

Open the table and request access
Click the table name in the results to open its landing page, then click the "Request Access" button in the table description.

Subscribe on the governance page
You are navigated to the MedTech Connect governance page for the asset. Click "Subscribe" at the top right.

Pick your project and justify the request
In the popup, select the project the data should be available in and provide a brief reason for access, then click "Subscribe". Managed assets are added to your Data Lake environment automatically once approved — use the Athena deep link to query.

Wait for the Data Asset Owner to approve
Your request is submitted to the Data Asset Owner. You receive a confirmation email with the request details; the asset owners are copied.

Track the request
In your project, open the "Data" tab and select "Requested data" in the left navigation to see all requested datasets and their status.
