R&D AI Use Case Workflow

Bring your use case — the governed path from idea to impact

Have a use case or a data need? This is how you start on the platform. Every AI use case follows the same structured, governed path — from a proposal with a clear business case, through council approval and validation, to a measured launch that sustains value.

Phase 1

Intake & Quantification

  1. 1

    AI Use Case Submission

Submit the proposed use case on GovernAI (governai.jnj.com) with a clear problem statement and the outcomes you expect.

  2. 2

    Business Case & Finance Alignment

Develop the business case and align on the P&L impact with finance.

  3. 3

    Value & Feasibility Assessment

Assess value, feasibility, data readiness, and the technical approach.

Phase 2

Approval & Prioritization

  1. 4

AI Council Approval — Proof of Concept (PoC) / Fast Track

The council reviews and approves the use case for a proof of concept or fast track.

  2. 5

    Use Case Prioritized in Backlog

Prioritized in the delivery backlog by value and feasibility.

Phase 3

Build & Validate

  1. 6

PoC Developed · Test & Learn

Build the proof of concept, test the assumptions, and validate the outcomes.

  2. 7

AI Council Approval — Full Launch

The council reviews the results and approves the move to full launch.

Phase 4

Launch & Scale

  1. 8

    Full Launch of Solution

Deploy to production and drive adoption at scale.

  2. 9

    Training, Measurement & Value Realization

Monitor, retrain, and measure impact to sustain the value over time.

Continuous optimization

Insights from measurement feed back into the workflow — informing new ideas, retraining, and the next round of improvements.
